James Sivco, CFA, CTA

James Sivco, CFA, CTA is the principal consultant at Molten Layer.

He is a former high yield bond mutual fund manager and the former manager of a distressed debt hedge fund. James has been involved in over 20 bankruptcies as a DIP lender; an exit loan investor; a pre or post petition creditor; a trade claims investor; or an owner of post reorganization equity. He has served as a liquidator on a wide range of assets including illiquid securities and commercial real estate.

Throughout his 30+ year career in debt and credit markets, James has chosen the laborious path of tearing apart financial statements and reassembling them to fit a consistent understanding of risk. It is an effective path.

Prior to managing money in the credit markets, James was an investment banker with JP Morgan Chase and a commercial banker at various institutions where he has been a deal team member on over $11 billion of transactions.

James was the recipient of an Ovation Award from the Houston Grand Opera in 2012 relating to his service as President of Trees for Houston a non-profit devoted to planting urban trees.

He is a member of the Houston Society of Financial Analysts; the Turnaround Management Association; and the Silver Club Golfing Society.
